The club has been organising an annual Charity Ball since 1989 and over the past 35 years, barring the two years of Covid-related safety measures and lockdowns, has raised over £1 million …. most of which has gone to local charities.
For thirty five years then, we have worked with partners such as the Double Tree, Hilton Hotel and sometimes were able to find sponsors prepared to matchfund the total raised on the night: as a result we were able to give away as much as £40,000 each year to worthy causes.
Our Charity Ball for 2025 with its theme of “Paris” will take place once again at the Double Tree, Hilton Hotel, on 10th May 2025 … look out for further details as our planning unfolds….

The Club’s Annual Charity Ball in 2024 took take place on 11th May at the Double Tree, Hilton Hotel, close to Junction 16 of the M4
In May 2024 we were back at the DoubleTree, Hilton Hotel which, as our only partner, served us so well the previous year: their assistance proved invaluable in helping us raise a staggering sum on the night, not only in terms of providing amazing hospitality and food and drink, but also in providing some wonderful auction lots and raffle prizes. Our “Diamond ” themed ball meant that we will be able to distribute at least £26,000 to charities in the town …over and above the amount each charity bid for! We like to think that’s pretty impressive at a time when money is tight, and much is due to the generosity of the Hilton management and local companies and businesses as well as individuals – without such support in donating prizes and sponsorship, nothing would be possible.
